A brief history about this page

BellydancerMarta.com was first established in 1998. It was concepted to present my credentials and history and to offer my expertise for dance choreographies and workshops. I have to admit that after about 2009, the site was only intermittently updated due mainly to the fact that I had established my costume design label Marta the Legend Luxuryline ™ and for continuity had established the domain martathelegend.com. This newer domain is where everything is happening so I decided rather than give up bellydancermarta.com, I would turn it into what we used to refer to as a 'vanity page,' for my stans. It is full of photos and stories.

A brief history about my career

I performed as an Egyptian-style dancer for more than 25 years in 22 different countries, with my 16-piece Egyptian orchestra. Following my final night club performance in 2000 in the Sheraton Gezira Hotel in Cairo, Egypt, I retired from night club shows and passed on my knowledge and experience through teaching workshops, in Cairo, Egypt and Germany. Hans and I moved to Istanbul, Turkey in 2002 and purchased a villa in the suburbs where I taught private classes, prepared choreographies for dancers, and opened an costume design Atelier producing high-end belly dance costumes and evening gowns for stage singers and dancers, under the label Marta the Legend Luxuryline ™.

Today

Having recently looked through my library of the thousands of costumes my Atelier produced since 2003, I thought it would be fun to compile an idea book to share for download. Once it is complete, I will add it to my online shop. There are currently a selection of costumes and accessories available. My shop is located here: Designer Marta.
